Most titles won in a year in the open era

Federer is the only player to have won at least 10 (or, in his case, 11) or more titles in 3 diferent seasons (also he did it in consecutive years, from 2004 to 2006).

He is also the only player to have won at least 10 titles in a year (11 in 2004) without losing in a final.

He is currently tied in 7th place for the most career titles in one year, with 12; here is the complete list of all players with 11 titles or more:

1 - Guillermo Vilas (1977) 16
2 - Jimmy Connors (1974) 15
2 - Ivan Lendl (1982) 15
2 - Ilie Nastase (1973) 15
5 - John Mc Enroe (1984) 13
5 - Illie Nastase (1972) 13

7 - Rod Laver (1970) 12
7 - Jimmy Connors (1976) 12
7 - Thomas Muster (1995) 12
11 - Roger Federer (2004) 11
11 - Roger Federer (2005) 11
11 - Rafael Nadal (2005) 11

Federer also won 8 titles in 2007, which was a record for the year; he also won 7 titles in 2003, which was also a record for that year. So for 5 straight years he has won at least as many titles as anybody else that year.

Career match wins in the open era

At this moment Federer has a career singles record of 664 wins and 156 losses, which is the most of any active player (Moya, who is already 32 years old, is in second place more than 80 wins behind); he is in 10th place at the moment;

Here is his career win-loss record:

1998: 2-3
1999: 13-17
2000: 36-30
2001: 50-20
2002: 65-23

2006: 92-5
2007: 69-9
2008: 66-13
2009: 47-7

(For some reason, the total doesn't add up, so if anyone knows where the mistakes are, please let me know)

Here is the complete list of all the players that have won 600 career matches or more:

Prize money in the open era

Prize money in one season

In 2007 Federer once again broke his own record for most prize money in a season, beating his U.S. $8,343,885 for the 2006 season.

By winning the Masters title Federer became the first player in history to win more than $10 million in a season. He came into the event with $7.4 million in 2007 earnings and added $1.2 million for winning the title with a 4-1 record. The Swiss also collects $1.5 million from the $3 million ATP Masters Series Bonus Pool, taking his season haul to $10,130,620.

As the prize money goes up every year, he will probably break his own record several times in the next few seasons.

At the 2007 US Open Federer earned with $2.4 million, the highest prize money ever at a single tournament, due to a $1 million bonus for winning the 2007 US Open Series and US Open consecutively.

Career prize money in the open era

Federer since he was 27 is already in first place in the all time money list!

1 - Roger Federer - $49,534,419 (after Canadian Open 2009)
2 - Pete Sampras - $ 43,280,489
3 - Andre Agassi - $ 31,152,975

Old predictions

The future (2007)

If Federer continues to win an average of 11 or more titles per year, even if only during the next three years, he will climb to number 3 on the all-time list of players with most titles in their career, and hold the records for most grass (already happened after Wimbledon 2009), hardcourt and outdoor titles by the end of his career.
